I can't believe...

...that I let this thing go so long! Jonah is now going on 16 months old. It's amazing how time goes so quickly! There is no way that I could go back and reflect on his progress over the past 14 months, so I will just post some highlights:

Jonah got his first tooth shortly before Christmas and now has five which he all got soon after: three on top and two on bottom. We brush his teeth twice a day, which he usually likes until you try to brush the top. This is a recent development, so maybe there is another on the way soon. It's been a few months since one popped up, so it's about time!

Jonah learned to walk shortly after Christmas and can now walk very well. If he falls on his butt, he can get back up on his own. He can bend over and pick things up. He even sort of runs.

He is a picky eater, and his favorite food right now is blueberries.

Jonah sleeps very well. It was a real struggle for awhile, but now it is great. All we have to do is put him in his crib and say, "Goodnight, buddy! Sweet dreams!" or something similar and he will put himself to sleep. It's amazing. He also sleeps from about 7:30pm-7:30am without waking up, which is so nice. You'd think Aaron and I would take advantage of that and go to sleep early, but we don't. He also still naps twice a day, usually.

We started taking him to a Mother's Morning Out program, or what I call "Morning School" because of its name. At first it was to help me out while I was in class, especially so that I didn't wear out the same (and only) babysitter he has. He loves spending time with the other kids though, so now that I am done with classes and don't really need to take him, I still do sometimes anyway to let him have fun. Plus, it's good for mommy to get an hour or two to herself, right?

Jonah says: gog (dog), nana (Grandma, banana), ma, da or daddy, mwa (more), dis (this), uuu (up), hi, uh-oh, loud, baby. He shakes his head yes or no to answer questions or ask for something. For example, if he wants to go outside, he will look outside and then shake his head 'yes.'

He can points to favorite things in books, like Elmo or the moon. He can point out an elephant and a zebra on a picture in his room. His favorite toy right now is a Thomas book that makes sound. He loves to "read" or be read to. He loves to pick up his toys, usually. He's getting very good at listening to commands and seems to really understand what we talk about.

He loves to climb now. He can get on the couch fairly, our rocking chair, and his rocking chair fairly well. He will try any chair any where. He loves heavy metal and punk rock. He LOVES water. But most of all, he loves his daddy. His favorite time of the day, and definitely when he is most energized and excited, is when Aaron walks in the door from work. It melts my heart.

I get a lot of love too. He just started giving me lots of hugs from behind when I bend down to pick up his toys, and I even get a kiss or two. (:

2 months

Jonah is over two months now. I can't even believe it! He has changed so much in the last few weeks, and I can barely begin to list everything. Unfortunately this post will be short, because I have school work to do. I just realized it had been so long since I last wrote!

At Jonah's first month appointment the nurse practitioner asked if Jonah had smiled yet. He hadn't. When I went home and told Aaron, it was like World War III between us to see who could get Jonah to smile first. He smiled for Aaron the very next day! It seems like ever since then he has been a smile machine! He's such a happy baby! He also coos now constantly and has a LOT to say! It's so adorable. He loves to lie in his crib or Pack N Play and talk to his mobile animal friends.

Jonah is far less fussy than he was a month ago. He is still incredibly fussy around 5-7 pm, which the doctor said is typical of colic babies. Unfortunately for Aaron, that is when he has one on one time with Jonah while I am at work or class. He's over two months now though, so we anticipate this improving in the next few weeks.

Jonah is awake more during the day. He takes a few very short naps, and when he isn't hungry or tired he is up smiling and talking. He was sleeping in our bed with us, and now he sleeps in his crib in his own room like a big boy! He sometimes will sleep one 4-5 hour stretch a night, but I still end up getting up with him one or two times a night. I really don't mind though because he goes right back to sleep, and I miss him when we are apart, even though I'm sleeping!

He recently had his two month appointment, and he weighted 10 lbs 15 oz and was 24 inches long! I hope he'll always be tall and skinny! He was at the 30th percentile in weight, but the doctor was not concerned because he is gaining weight and hasn't dropped in percentile.

Since I posted last, we've had another visit from my mom. We hung out for a few days here and then went to Columbia to visit family. We saw Uncle Mike, Aunt Marlea, Uncle Pat, Aunt Debbie, and Emily. We also went to Aaron's parents and saw them and Nick. It was so nice to be surrounded by family! My dad and Mary Jo also came to visit! Jonah has been so lucky to be able to spend so much time with his grandparents even though we live so far away. Next month we'll be traveling to Ohio for Joe's graduation. I'm nervous to take him on a plane, but I know he'll be great!
